Abdul Majeed Dawood Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — A military officer, who is a member of the Border Guard, put his life in danger to save a woman from a kidnapper here on Saturday. Abdullah Al-Thibaiti was returning home from work when he saw a car parked in the middle of the road. He honked his horn several times, but the driver would not budge. Al-Thibaiti then got out of his car and walked up to the man sitting at the wheel of the other car. While talking to the driver, he saw a woman inside the car crying. He asked the driver about the woman. The driver first told him that she was his wife, then he changed the story and said she was his sister. Al-Thibaiti became suspicious. He tried to talk to the woman, who told him that she was being kidnapped at gunpoint. At this point, the man in the car took out his pistol and fired four shots at Al-Thibaiti. A bullet hit one his hands, damaging one of his fingers beyond repair. Al-Thibaiti is now under treatment at King Fahd Hospital and the criminal is in police custody. Thanks to his bravery the woman was saved. The police said the kidnapper had a criminal record and was wanted for a number of crimes.
