The Saudi Karate team concluded participation yesterday in the World Youth League Championship of the International Karate Federation, featuring the categories of buds, juniors, youth, and Olympic, held in La Coruna, Spain April 26 to April 30, 2023. The team achieved four medals, including gold, silver, and two bronze medals across various categories in martial competitions. Sanad Sufiani won the gold medal in the +84 kg weight category for the Olympic category, while Sultan Al-Qahtani won the silver medal in the -61 kg weight for the youth category. Abdullah Al-Qahtani won a bronze medal in the -70 kg weight for the junior category, and Saad Al-Saif also won a bronze medal in the -57 kg weight for the junior category under the supervision of coach Captain Mounir Afkir and his assistant national coach, Mohammed Ghazwani. This participation is part of the Saudi Karate Federation's efforts to continue participating in international competitions and achieving excellence and leadership in the game, following the Federation's strategy aimed at creating champions in the game of different age groups, weights, and genders. The goal is to advance the level of the game in the Kingdom and enable them to compete at regional and international levels. It is worth noting that the first Saudi Karate team is continuing its preparations through a preparatory camp in Riyadh to participate in the World Premier League of the International Karate Federation, which is scheduled to be held in Rabat from May 12-14, 2023.
