year-old Saudi man has been arrested for robbing mostly expatriate workers with a plastic toy gun and impersonating a police officer. He was nabbed after his last victim, an Indonesian national, reported him to the police. The Indonesian victim said he was crossing a city street when he saw the criminal get out of a small car. The citizen then ordered him to stop and produce his iqama. While the Indonesian man was showing his identification, the criminal shifted the black toy pistol from one pocket to another. The perpetrator made sure that the victim could see the gun and said he was a Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officer. The Indonesian man responded immediately by presenting his iqama to the unidentified man. The criminal then went back to his car on the pretext that he was going to check the validity of the iqama. Minutes later, he got out of his car and frisked the Indonesian man, saying he had received information that he was carrying a firearm. The Indonesian national completely obeyed the man. Then the criminal took the Indonesian man's money and 300 prepaid mobile telephone cards and ordered him to leave the place immediately. He also warned that he would be arrested and deported if he provided shelter for Indonesian overstayers. The moment the criminal drove off, the victim reported the incident to the police. The police sent out officers who eventually spotted the criminal's car and surrounded and overpowered him. He was found with a black plastic toy pistol used by children. Brig. Gen. Misfir Al-Je'aid, Spokesman of Jeddah Police, said the suspect was taken into custody and a plastic toy pistol was confiscated as evidence. __
