Saleh Fraeed Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – The Jeddah Summer Festival 2013 “Jeddah Gheir “ has launched a unique food carnival at the Courtyard Tuesday in a bid to further promote and popularize both Saudi and various international foodstuffs for Jeddah visitors and residents as well. Speaking at the launch of the festival, Bandar Al Suliman, Managing Director at AlMathaaq Hospitality, said “our visitors love to enjoy good food and they are always ready to try something new in a city like Jeddah which boasts one of the regions' best collections of restaurants.”
He announced the carnival will include the Saudi week (June 8-14), the European week (June 15-21), the Oriental week (June 22-28) and the American /Asian week (June 29-July 5). “In addition to tasting the various delicious dishes, the Courtyard will allow diners and visitors to experience live cooking, food sampling, enjoy the culture shows and they will also have the chance to win valuable prizes from the weekly competitions,” he said. He added that the volume of investments in the catering sector exceeded SR6 billion and that the demand for restaurants is growing annually by more than 10 percent. Meanwhile, Hassan Al Dahlan, director of the organizing committee of Jeddah Summer Festival 2013, disclosed that 1,500 stores, 17 shopping malls and 70 entertaining kids cities will witness around 150 events this summer. “The 30-day event will include more than 100 tourist and recreational activities catering to all sections of the society and the festival would further consolidate the position of Jeddah in the domestic and foreign tourism map,” he added.
