My Care Hala Green clinched victory from the jaws of defeat from Attieh Steel as teenager Akram Aslam bowled devastatingly to grab 6 wickets for just 5 runs after the steelmen were comfortably cruising, requiring 45 runs in 42 balls with 7 wickets in hand.
After the match an awards ceremony was held at the ground where officials of WPCA, Saudi Cricket Center and dignitaries attended.
My Care Hala Green, batting first, racked up 199 for 6 in 20 overs as skipper Awais hit 50 in 44 balls. Shoukat smacked 5 sixes and 4 boundaries to remain unbeaten on 68 off 31 balls.
Akram Aslam scored 23. Mohammed Qureshi, with his orthodox leg-spin, took 3-37. Kashif, Tariq Butt and Arshad Butt took one wicket each for steelmen.
Attieh Steel, chasing exactly 200 for victory, was in complete control at 155 for 3 after 13 overs as Shahid made 30 and Kashif was batting on 32. At this stage Akram Aslam, who recently starred in the Under-19 ACC Challengers Cup in Malaysia with two Man of the Match Awards, bowled devastatingly to chock the steelmen from 155 for 3 to 169 all out, taking 6 wickets for just 5 runs in mere 13 balls. Abdul Rafey took 2-39. Attaa and Salman took one wicket each.
This has been the fourth time in a row that the Attieh Steel losing in the finals. Awards: Winner – My Care Hala Green; runners-up – Attieh Steel; Player of the Tournament and best batsman – Kashif of Attieh; best bowler and the only hat trick – Jawaid of Crown White; best wicketkeeper – Adnan of Crown; Man of the Final – Akram Aslam of My Care Hala Green; men of the semifinals – Kashif of Attieh and Mudassir of MCH Green.
