Abu Huraira — Man of the Final receiving his award from Shahbaz Senior Dr. Sayed Ziauddin JEDDAH — Crown Steel beat My Care and Hala by 17 runs in the final to clinch the WPCA Summer Premier Cup here recently. Opting to bat first Crown Steel started briskly, but lost early wickets with Shafeeq making 21, Hammad Saeed 25 and Zubaid 19. Abid Naseem batted responsibly for his 51 off 37 balls. He stitched together 52 runs for the third wicket with Babar Hussain (45) to take the total to 146. Abuhuraira (12) and Aftab Khan (18) helped the side reach 198-6 in 20 overs. Waqas grabbed 2-21, Kashif 2-35 and Umar 2-54. My Care Hala in reply kept losing wickets at regular intervals with only Waheed Nisar Ali batting with determination and concentration. Waheed Ali hit 61 off 35 balls (5x4s and a 6) as My Care Hala was bundled out for 181. Khurram Karamat made 20, Waqas 17 and Kashif 15. Abu Huraira took 3-20, Aijaz Mitha 3-28, Aftab Khan 2-37 while a wicket each went to Hammad Saeed and Shafeeq. Abu Huraira was named the Man of the Match. Waseeq Sherwani and Saleem were the umpires for the match. A glittering Prize distribution ceremony took place after the final. Pakistan hockey star Shahbaz Senior was the chief guest on the occasion. The awards were picked up by: Best Batsman: Kashif Shafeeq of MCH; Best Bowler: Shoaib Ali of Dopco Stars; Best wicketkeeper: Nadeem of APF; Man of the Tournament: Syed Wajahat Shah of APF; Men of the Matches for semifinals: Kashif Shafeeq and Abu Huraira; Special award for hattrick went to Samer of Zultec; while the Man of the Final award was picked up by Abu Huraira.
