An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter Scale jolted Blitar, East Java Province, Sunday at 11.57 pm local time. The quake's epicenter was located at 9.38 degrees Southern Latitude and 112.42 degrees Eastern Longitude, at a depth of 41 km below level, ANTARA quoted the national meteorological, climatology and geophysics agency as saying here Monday. The quake whose epicenter was about 148 km southeast of Blitar did not have the potential of triggering a tsunami.
