An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted Malang, East Java Province, Tuesday at 5.19 am local time. The quake's epicenter was located 8.80 degrees southern latitude, and 112.53 degrees eastern longitude at a depth of 74 km below sea level, around 89 km southwest of Malang, ANTARA quoted the National Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysics Agency as saying. The temblor, which was 106 km southwest of Lumajang (East Java), 133 km southwest of Pasuruan (East Java), and 697 km southeast of Jakarta, did not have potential to trigger a subsequent tsunami, according to the agency.
