An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale rocked the resort island of Bali early Friday but there was no immediate report of casualties or material damage. The epicenter of the quake which struck at 01.43 a.m. was in the sea about 210 km southwest of Nusa Dua at a depth of 10 km, ANTARA quoted the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) as saying. It said the temblor was felt by people living in a number of areas, including Karangkates, Denpasar, Badung, Tabanan, and Lombok. The quake did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami, it said.
