Five crew members on a Polish trawler were feared dead after a 24-hour search and rescue operation failed to find any trace of the missing crew, dpa cited Danish officials as saying today. The Danish Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) said the search operation was conducted near the island of Bornholm. It was launched Thursday after a Danish military plane spotted traces of debris and a life belt in the sea. "We don't know what happened but the trawler appears to have gone down very quickly," JRCC spokesman Hans Christian Iversen told Danish news agency Ritzau. The crew did not send any distress signal. Units from Denmark as well as Sweden and Finland took part in the search.
