Washington informed Denmark before US forces launched its operation to free two aid workers held hostage in Somalia, Danish Foreign Minister Villy Sovndal said Wednesday. "I am happy and relieved that the Danish hostage has been freed. I have heard that he is doing well under the circumstances but don't know when he can return home," Sovndal told Danish news agency Ritzau. Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt also welcomed the release of Danish national Poul Hagen Thisted. The Danish national and Jessica Buchanan of the US were abducted in October while on assignment for the Danish Refugee Council's demining unit. The agency welcomed their release and was "very happy," a spokesman told DPA.
