The bodies of three missing crew members were found dead Monday by divers who entered a Slovakian freighter that had capsized off Denmark a day earlier, reports said, according to dpa. The discovery of the two male crew members' bodies in addition to that of a female crew member found earlier Monday raised the death toll to four, the online edition of the Jyllands-Posten newspaper said. Four crew members of the Omer N meanwhile remained missing, and there was virtually no hope they had survived the accident, Danish marine rescue services said. The divers had a difficult search on the water-logged vessel due to debris, poor visibility and high waves. Earlier Monday, the body of a missing female crew member was found dead when divers entered the freighter that capsized in the Fehmarn Belt strait located between the German and Danish coasts. Divers from Denmark and Germany have not detected any sign of life when searching the vessel and bridge using special audio equipment, and when they knocked on cabin doors, the marine rescue services said. One of the 11-strong crew, a 54-year-old male, was found dead Sunday while three other crew members of the 80-metre Omer N were rescued by a passing Russian vessel in the Fehmarn Belt strait. All the crew members were reported to be Turkish nationals. There were initial hopes that the missing crew members may have been able to find air pockets in the hull. An attempt by a diver to enter the bridge late Sunday was aborted because of high waves. It was not known what caused the vessel to capsize in fairly good weather, 15 nautical miles west of the Danish town of Gedser.
