Member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Ophthalmology Society Dr Othman Al-Omar has highlighted the big strides made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of ophthalmology. He noted that more than 30 Saudi ophthalmologists participated in the European ophthalmology conference held in Paris on September 17-21, 2004. The conference reviewed issues pertaining to disease of cataract and defects in sight. 'The Saudi ophthalmologists have delivered important papers at the conference on various eye diseases', he added. On the other hand, members of the Board of Directors and members of the Saudi Ophthalmology Society congratulated Prince Abdulaziz bin Ahmad bin Abdulaziz, the Head of the Society, who was awarded a prestigious prize by the International Agency for combating blindness at a ceremony recently organized in Dubai, in recognition of his tireless efforts in combating blindness in the Mediterranean region.
