The general index of cost of living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for September 2015 was up by 0.3% compared to August 2015 and it was up by 2.3% for September 2015 compared to the same period of 2014. The General Director of the Central Department of Statistics and Information (CDSI), Dr. Fahd Al-Tekhefi said that the monthly increase was a reflection of the developments witnessed by seven of the main sectors of the cost of living index, namely: food and beverage sector which registered an increase of 0.7%; sector of miscellaneous goods and services which registered an increase of 0.7 %; sector of transportation which registered an increase of 0.4%; sector of clothing and footwear which registered an increase of 0.3%; sector of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels which registered an increase of 0.2%; the health sector which registered an increase of 0.1%, and the sector of communications which registered an increase of 0.1%. He explained that in contrast, three sections of the main sectors forming the index of the cost of living for September witnessed decline in their standard indicators, namely: the sector of restaurants and hotels which decreased by 0.2%; the sector of house furnishing and maintenance which registered a decline of 0.1% and the sector of recreation and culture which registered a decline of 0.1%.
