General Index of cost of living for March recorded, according to the base year 2007, an increase of 2,6% compared to its percentage of the same period of 2013. The general index of cost of living for March amounted to 129 points compared to 128.8 in February, according to the base year 2007, reflecting a rise in the index of March, a rate of 0.2 %. In its monthly statement, the Central Department of Statistics and Information (CDSI) attributed this rise to the increase witnessed by five main sections constituting the index for the cost of living where the section of miscellaneous goods and services increased by 1.3 %; section of Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels increased by 0.8 %; section of clothing and footwear by 0.6 %; section of restaurants and hotels by 0.6 % and the section of recreation and culture by 0.2%. The CDSI also pointed out that the three sections of the main sections constituting the index for the cost of living declined in their index numbers last March; the section of communications 1.0%, section of food and beverages 0.3% and the section of home furnishing, equipment and maintenance 0.3%. It also said that the general index of the cost of living for March, based on the base year 2007, increased 2.6% compared with its counterpart for 2013 due to the rise witnessed in 10 sections of the main sections constituting the index for the cost of living; the section of tobacco by 6.4%, section of home furnishing, equipment and maintenance by 5.2%, section of Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 4.1%, section of recreation and culture 4.1%, section of food and beverages 3.8%, section of Education 3.7%, section of restaurants and hotels 3.5%, section of Health by 3.0%, section of miscellaneous goods and services 0.8% and the section of clothing and footwear 0.6% . Moreover, the two sections of the main sections constituting the index number of the cost of living declined in its index of cost of living; section of transport by 3.0% and section of communications by 0.3%.
