The General Index of cost of living for July recorded, according to the base year 2007, an increase of 2,6% compared to its percentage of the same period in 2013. In its monthly statement, the Central Department of Statistics and Information (CDSI) attributed this rise to the increase witnessed by five main sectors constituting the index of the cost of living as the sectors of recreation and culture increased by 10.4 %; tobacco by 7.3%; house furniture by 4.2%; education by 3.7%; health by 3.5%; and goods and miscellaneous services by 3.2%. It also pointed to the rise in other sectors including housing, electricity, gas and other fuels by 2.8 %; food and beverages by 2.0%, restaurants and hotels by 1.4 %; clothing and footwear by 1.2 %; communications by 0.7%; and transportation by 6%. The statement noted that the index of the cost of living increased by 0.3% in the month of July compared to June 2014.
