RIYADH — The Saudi Food and Drugs Authority shuts down a warehouse used to store medicinal products for multiple violations during the Haj break. The SFDA reported on its website that unlicensed warehouse for medicinal products was set up in the garage of a residential building. The warehouse was not registered as a licensed warehouse at the authority and had other violations in storing medicine as well. The products stored were over the sell-by date or stored incorrectly which resulted in the shutting of the warehouse. The authority also reported its inspection campaign during the Haj break included 60 pharmacies in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. The authority seized a total of 1,479 medical products for being on the shelf well after the expiry date or unregistered at the authority. Over 1,181 products were seized from nine different pharmacies in Riyadh, 157 products were seized from five different pharmacies in Jeddah and 141 products were seized from six different pharmacies in Dammam. The total cost of all of the seized products is estimated at SR381,000.
