Aijaz Ahmed Khan JEDDAH — Ace Travel lifted the Ace Travel Cup for the third time in a row, thrashing Tamer by 10 wickets in the final of the JCA Tournament, sponsored by Ace Travel and Tours. Ace Travel bundled out Tamer for 117 runs and then flogged the Tamer bowlers ruthlessly to reach 123 in only 5.5 overs without losing a wicket. Mouzam and Abdul Wahid were too aggressive on the day. Mouzam hit a superb unbeaten 85 off 22 balls with 11 sixes and 4 fours, while Abdul Wahid remained unbeaten on 34 from 13 balls with 5 sixes and a four. Earlier, Tamer won the toss and could post only 117. Javed (16), Afroz (24), Irfan (19) and Anwar (16) were the only batsmen who made double digits, while others just succumbed to left-arm spinner Faheem Pasha who recorded a magical figures of 5 for 15. Shahid and Sami picked up one wicket each. In the semifinals, Ace Travel beat G-Best IDB by 4 wickets. Scores: G-Best IDB 163 for 6 (Waseem 97 not out; Shahid 3 for 29). Ace Travel 165 for 6 (Abdul Wahid 64, Rashid 37 not out, Rashid Jr. 26; Islam 2 for 44, and Adil 2 for 17). In the other semis, Tamer beat Sindh-XI by 11 runs. Scores: Tamer 187 for 6 (Irfan 78, Amjad 49; Salman 2 for 40, Hassan 2 for 31). Sindh-XI 176 all out (Jawwad 41, Munawwar 29, Shakeel 24; Adnan 4 for 20, Amjad 2 for 34 Afroz 2 for 15). The award ceremony was conducted soon after the match. It was graced by Ace officials Syed Mohiuddin (operations manager) and Mubashir Hussain (office supervisor). After the welcome address by JCA official A. A. Merchant, Mohiuddin lauded the efforts of JCA and said that the management was proud of sponsoring JCA for the sixth consecutive year. He also assured JCA of Ace's continuous support in future. JCA vice president Aijaz Ahmed Khan thanked Ace Travel and its officials Ashfaq Aleem Ahmed (regional manager), Mohammed Ali Jarrar (regional director), Shamshad Ahmed Khan (finance director) and Syed Ashfaque Hussain. The awards were presented by Mohiuddin to the teams and players.
