JEDDAH — Sporting United moved into the Under-14 semifinals of the Jeddah Sports Club (JSC) Friendship Cup Football Tournament by beating Mahd Al-Uloom International School 3-1 Saturday. It was Sporting United's second victory in the three-team Group A. Though beaten, Mahd Al-Uloom also made the grade by virtue of its earlier win over Soccer Freakz.
In the Under-17 section, JSC recorded its first victory by beating Soccer Freakz 2-0. With two losses Freakz are now out of the running. Indonesian International School registered victories in Under-14 and Under-17 sections.
In Under-14, scoring thrice in each half it drubbed JSC 6-1. Faris and Rayan led the rout with a brace each. Man of the Match Shouja scored one goal. Goumi completed the tally. JSC got onto the scorebook with a self goal from Abdulla of Indonesian School.
Against Mahd Al-Uloom, United stamped its class with two goals from Jasim. Man-of-the-Match Shadin scored the other goal. Mahd Al-Uloom earlier took the lead through Mawiya.
In a thrilling encounter in the Under-17 section Friday, JSC prevailed over Soccer Freakz with two second half goals from Sahal Zaheer and Fawaz Ismail. Sahal won the Man of the match award.
In another Uunder-17 match, Freakz squandered a number of chances against Indonesian School. Indonesian School, which kept its cool, scored two goals in the last five minutes. Somir and Man-of-the-Match Husni scored the goals.
