Buoyed by the success of the first tournament last year and the enthusiasm and the spirit shown by the budding footballers and their parents, JSC, which is running a soccer academy, has decided to conduct two tourneys for Under-14 and-17 this year.
Organized under the auspices of Saudi Indian Football Forum (SIFF), the event is titled as JSC Friendship Cup Under-14 &-17 Tournament – powered by Mobil 1. Matches will be held in the morning on Fridays and Saturdays.
The draws were held and the trophies unveiled at a grand function here Tuesday. Chief guest Dr. Irshad Ahmad, consul, press, information & cultural affairs, Consulate General of India, Jeddah, and SIFF president Hifsu Rahman unveiled the trophies. The event was attended by invited guests, mediamen and representatives from other clubs.
Four teams — JSC, Sporting United, Indonesian School and Soccer Freakz — will be contesting for honors in the Under-17 section. After the preliminary round robin matches the top two teams will vie for the trophy.
The six teams in the Under-14 section have been grouped into two pools.
Pool A consists of Sporting United, Soccer Freakz and Mahd Al-Uloom International School, while Pool B has JSC, Indonesian School and Al-Wurood International School.
After the league round, the top two teams from the groups will qualify for the knockout semifinals. — SG
