Aijaz Ahmed Khan JEDDAH — The JCA-organized Premier Division League sponsored by Ace Travel and Tours was off to a flying start here recently with exciting wins for Tamer, ARM and Pak Green. Week 1 Tamer beat Mazco by 2 wickets. Mazco put on 162 for 8 in its allotted overs. Nasir (32) and Usman (29) batted well, while Shahzad (2 for 26), Faisal (2 for 27) and Kamran (2 for 28) were among the wickets. Tamer, in reply, started sedately but managed to reach the target of 163 for the loss of 8 wickets. Maqsood (37), Faisal (33) and Malik Usman (27) ensured a good win for Tamer. Sabir (2 for 25) and Faisal (2 for 31) bowled well. Week 2 Pak Green beat Micro Engineering by 82 runs. Batting first, Pak Green scored 202 for the loss of 7 wickets. Shan Manzoor scored a brilliant 77 off 44 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes. He was given admirable support by Shahzad Ahmad (33) and Asim Khan (23). Mujahid claimed 4 for 30, while Jawed chipped in with 2 for 20. In reply, Micro Engineering was bundled out for 120 with only Shareef (28) and Ahsan (27) putting up a fight against the sharp bowling of Adnan (2 for 14), Rana Shahzad (2 for 29), Rizwan (2 for 23) and Asim Khan (2 for 5). ARM carried its previous league-winning streak into this tournament with an exciting 2-wicket win over Tamer. Batting first, Tamer was bundled out for 172. Amir Wahla led the way with a stylish 50 off 27 balls (4 fours, 3 sixes), while Javed Makki scored a sedate 36. Shani (3 for 28) and Nazeer (2 for 31) were the pick of the bowlers. In reply, ARM got off to a solid start with Sami Khan scoring a quick-fire 89 off 46 balls (4 fours and 6 sixes). Parvez (25) and Nazeer (22) added useful runs, however, a rush of blood saw 4 wickets tumble toward the end as Karam Ali (3 for 20) and Shahzad (3 for 44) gave it a scare. Despite the setback, ARM managed to overhaule the target of 173 for the loss of 8 wickets.
