JEDDAH — Red Blazing Rockets clinched the champion's trophy following two days of hectic sporting action at Pakistan International School Jeddah – English Section here recently. Red House finished the Annual Sports Gala 2014 on top with 1,079 points, while Blue Dynamites followed with 982, Yellow Titans with 969 and Green Dragons with 944 points. The first day of action saw young athletes from Nursery to Grade I show boundless enthusiasm, while the children from Grade II to 4 concluded the festivities. Many interesting contests such as passing through the hoop, finding the ball race, flat race, tele match, frog race, etc. were lined up for the children. The program commenced with recitation from the Holy Qur'an followed by a flag hoisting ceremony and the national anthems of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Speaking to the large gathering, Acting Principal Imran Raza Khan said: “Mental and physicals are synergetic to each other. During sports we come to learn many things such as maintaining mental balance in the midst of hope, despair, team spirit and courage.” Elaborating the hidden message in each house color, he said: “Red articulates endurance, Green gives the message of life and hope, Yellow symbolizes optimism and Blue signifies peace.” The principal appreciated the hard work rendered by the teachers, especially the physical education staff, for their tireless efforts in making the sports event a success. The ground was enwrapped in color as all the houses presented a captivating march past. The gymnastic show by the agile and swift kids won the hearts of spectators, while the mind-blowing performance of the PT display enthralled the audience. The chief guest, Counsel General of Pakistan Aftab Khokher, accompanied by the principal, Acting Deputy Head Junior School Mrs. Rabia Maroof Khan and the School Management Committee members gave away the medals to position holders.
