Blue House rules at PISJ(ES) Girls' Sports Day
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 30 - 01 - 2010

After tough competition and some close calls the Blue House came on top at the end of the Girls' Sports Day at the Pakistan International School (English Section) Jeddah recently.
The way the students performed on the tracks showed their motivation and excitement at being part in the annual school event. The spectators appreciated the students during and at the end of every event by giving them a loud round of applause.
Yellow House finished second followed by the Red and Green Houses respectively.
The Girls' event was held almost a week after the Junior Section's event where children from classes Nursery to 2 took part. Yellow House had finished on top there followed by Blue, Red and Green Houses respectively.
The girls' sports events (from classes 3-13) kicked off with spoon and lemon races followed by tying the lace, one legged race, hoop race, sack race, three-legged race, skipping and hula hoop competitions, 100-m race, relay races and tug-of-war.
The spoon and lemon races held in two categories were won by Nabiha Izhar (Y3-4) of Red House and Duaa Irfan (Y4-4) of Yellow House.
Tying the lace races were won by Hafsa Imran (Y3) and Hira Asad (Y4) of Red House and Fareha Faheem (Y4-3) and Hira Asim (Y4-2) of Yellow House.
In one-legged races Hayam Khan (Y3-6) of Yellow House and Amna Qaiser (Y4-5) of Red House came on top.
The hoop races winners were Sana Abdul Ghani (Y3-2) of Yellow House and Saira Inam (Y4-5) of Blue House. Seyreen Faisal (Y3-3) of Yellow House, Maryam Sheraz (Y4-2) of Red House, Hira Lucman (Y5-5) of Yellow house and Nawal Adil (Y6-5) of Green House won the 100m races.
The Yellow House also dominated the tug-of-war competition.
The day had earlier started with the recitation from the Holy Qur'an. The principal, Sehar Kamran, welcomed the chief guests Samina Khalid Ghurki, Federal Minister for Social Welfare and Special Education, and Noshaba Akmal, wife of the Link Officer of the school Akmal Saeed, and the parents.
She urged the students to do their best saying that it is the struggle, the planning and the sheer will that goes into competition that matters most.
She also appreciated the PISJ-ES Student Council for sharing responsibilities with the teachers in organizing the event.
Once the Pakistani and Saudi national anthems were played the girls scouts performed for the first time a march-past. A select group of students from all the four Houses then put on separate short performances which were very much appreciated by the guests.
