JEDDAH — Zain Al-Salikeen and Sarfaraz hit stylish centuries to lift their teams Munch Bakery and Ktaykit, respectively, to wins in the MoneyGram Cricket Ke Badshah T20 Afternoon Tournament here recently. The tournament is being organized by Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA) under the auspices of Saudi Cricket Centre. Munch Bakery beat Peeran-XI by 74 runs. Led by a superb century by veteran Zain Al-Salikeen, Munch Bakery was able to pile up a huge score of 289 for the loss one wicket. Zain slammed a brilliant unbeaten 106 off 55 balls with 10 fours and 4 sixes. He was associated in an opening partnership of 142 runs with Tariq Jamal, who scored a quick-fire 79 runs off 36 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes. Thereafter Zain was associated in an unbeaten stand of 147 runs for the 2nd wicket with Ibaad, who hit a blazing unbeaten 80 off 27 balls (6 fours and 7 sixes). Zaheer took the lone wicket to fall. In reply, Peeran-XI made a strong effort to reach the target thanks to a stylish 71 from Kashif with 6 fours and 5 sixes and a supportive 44 from Tariq, but the asking rate kept going up and it was restricted to 206 for 6 in its 20 overs. ICAD beat Peeran Warriors by 50 runs. Buoyed by its impressive title win in the previous league, ICAD hit 188 with useful contributions from Shakeel (45), Jinto (41) and Imran (27). Riaz picked up 2-26, while a wicket each went to Qaisar and Hussain. In reply, Peeran Warriors was bundled out for 138 with Mohsin (3-17), Shakeel (2-9) and Adil (2-24) doing most of the damage. Hussain was the only batsman to put up a fight as the rest crumbled tamely to hand ICAD the win. Ktaykit beat Old Students by 4 wickets. Old Students, batting first, scored a fighting 188 for 6 with Naveed playing an elegant knock of 69 off 43 balls inclusive of 5 sixes. He was given good support by Shahid (30) and Sajjad (23). Naseem, Zeeshan, Mudassir and Shamshad picked up a wicket each. Although Old Students made Ktaykit work for every run, the latter scored with some tight bowling by Amanullah (2-24) and Naveed (2-30). Sarfaraz, however, had other ideas as he dominated the proceedings from one end, while wickets kept falling at the other end. He garnered most of the strike to play a brilliant unbeaten innings of 112 runs off 53 balls, which included 11 fours and 3 sixes, as he guided Ktaykit to a 4-wicket win.
