Convincing wins for Kitaykit, ICAD

JEDDAH — The JCA Afternoon Summer League kicked off here recently with 7 teams participating.
After playing a double leg round robin league, four top teams will qualify for the knockout stage to play the semifinals.
In the first week, ICAD beat Peeran-XI by 6 wickets, new entrant Kitaykit stunned favorities and last League winners Old Students by 8 wickets and JAMCO defeated MUmnch Bakery by 31 runs.
Batting first, Peeran-XI managed to post 158-8 in its allotted overs. Fahad batted well and scored 49 off 37 balls with 2 sixes and a four, while Nazim hit 4 boundaries in his knock of 27. Imran had a rich haul of 4-25, while Shakeel, Dilshad and Mohsin claimed one wicket each for 18, 28 and 27 runs, respectively.
ICAD was given a sound start by Mohsin and Irfan. Mohsin scored 41 off 20 balls with 7 fours and a six, while Irfan scored 25 with 2 fours and a six. Later, Akhtar hit 37 with 4 boundaries. Navas chipped in with 19 (6x2, 4x1). Shakeel remained unbeaten on 12 as ICAD reached 159-6 with 2 overs and 4 wickets in hand. Saher claimed 2-19, while Faisal and Nazim got one wicket each for 19 and 9 runs, respectively.
Jamco defeated Munch Bakery by 31 runs. Jamco, batting first, plundered 207-8 and restricted Munch Bakery to 166. For Jamco, the main scorers were Arsalan 56 off 30 deliveries (6x1, 4x7), Faisal scored a quickfire 40 off only 12 balls (6x1, 4x7), Atif chipped in with 27 and Mubashir contributed 27 off 11 balls (6x1, 4x3). Rana Shahzad took 3-36, while Abdul Rauf got 2-37.
Chasing a big total, Munch Bakery batsmen did not live up to the expectations. Except for Rehan, none stayed long enough to make a match of it. Rehan scored 54 with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Munch Bakery managed 166. Faisal grabbed 2-37, while Arsalan, Karam and Mubashir claimed one wicket each.
Kitaykit beat Old Students by 8 wickets. Old Students scored 167-6 which Kitaykit overcame with 2 overs to spare and 8 wickets in hand. For Old Students, Sajjad Butt was the highest scorer with an unbeaten 55 with 4 fours and a six, while Omar scored 36 with 4 fours. Sarfaraz and Naseem bowled well taking 2 wickets each for 25 and 41 runs, respectively.
In reply, Kitaykit rattled the required runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Opener Salim notched up 38 with 4 fours, Mudassir contributed a stylish and aggressive unbeaten 52 with 6 fours and 2 sixes, while Sarfaraz remained unbeaten on 33 with 3 fours. Kitaykit reached 169-2 with 2 overs to spare. Mirza and Asif claimed one wicket each for 29 and 32 runs, respectively.
