JEDDAH — Dopco Young Stars riding on Jaweed's hat trick humbled United Cricket Club, Arab Lankans had the better of Master's CC, Lother's downed Elaf Advance, Hala International School beat AMI Juffali and Contraco defeated Marine Services in the WPCA-organized and Hyundai Naghi-sponsored Afternoon T20 Cricket Tournament here recently.
Marine Services, batting first, against Contraco, posted 170-8. Naseer top-scored with 34, Ajaz hit 23 and Shakeel 26. Sajed took 2-25 and Asif 2-36. Contraco, chasing the impressive target, was home with 171-9. Khurram smashed 71 (10 fours and a six), while Sami hit 39. Naseer claimed 4-33 and Shakeel 3-30.
Dopco Young Stars, taking the strike first against UCC, racked up 202-4. Kashif blasted 71 off 42 balls (11 fours), while Yasir remained unbeaten on 81 (6 sixes and 5 fours) as the two added 160 off 78 balls for the 3rd wicket after they were 29-2. Irfan Ghulam scalped 3-35. United Cricket Club, in reply, could manage only 115 to lose the encounter by 87 runs. Javed Iqbal scalped 3-26 with a hat trick. Sarfaraz hit 35, while skipper Raja Mudassir added 28. Also among the wickets were Nazeer 2-9, Jamshed 2-15 and Waqas 2-24.
Elaf Advance, batting first against Lother's CC, posted 148-7. Ehtesham made 36, Omer 35, Ashraf 20 and Majed 19. Badshah with 3-38 was the main wicket-taker. Lother's, in reply, achieved the winning target of 154 in 73 balls with 8 wickets to spare as Badshah remained unbeaten on 84 in 44 balls (6 fours and 4 sixes), while Nabeel hit 32 as the two stitched together 118 in 50 balls.
AMI Juffali posted 125-8 against Hala School as Habeeb hit 23 and Asif Sultan 21. Ibrahim took 3-24 and Abdulwasay 2-29. Hala International School, in reply, reached home 128-3 in 93 balls. Atif top-scored with 43 not out, Anas added 24, while Farez made 19.
Arab Lankans, electing to bat first against Master's Cricket Club, piled up 183-3.
Rumaish played an unbeaten innings of 63 in 33 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes as he added 111 runs for the third wicket with Siraj (42). Earlier, Imran scored 42. Waleed claimed 2-33.
Master's, in reply, could manage only 120-7 to lose by 63 runs. Junaid hit 38, while Anas Ali added 29 and Shiyam 25 not out. Siraj grabbed 3-20 and M. Irshad 2-12.
