JEDDAH — Five matches took place in the Hyundai Naghi-sponsored WPCA Afternoon Tournament here recently. Limitless defeated Lothers, Nestle Milo prevailed over Al-Safri-XI, Elaf Advance scraped through against AOT Youngsters and Arab Lankans won against Zultrack, while Jotun Paints was declared winner against Pak Makkah-XI.
Limitless, batting first, piled up 153-9 as Rashid top-scored with 65 in 37 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes and Nadeem Shabbir hit 24. They added 101 runs in 59 balls. Faisal took 3-19. In reply, Badshah made 23, Nabeel 36, Jameel 20 and Siraj 23 not out for Lothers CC. Fahad scalped 3-19 and Amjad 2-37.
Al-Safri-XI, batting first, lost wickets early to be reeling at 44-3. However, opener Muneeb compiled 56 with 8 boundaries and Aftab Malik hammered 58 in 35 balls with one six and 5 fours. They produced 78 to lift the team to 148-6. Faiyyaz scalped 3-27 and Awais 2-24. Nestle Milo, in reply, too lost wickets early. But Imran Sarwar scored 49 and Asghar 25. Then Ijaz Butt, coming at No. 8 requiring 29 runs to win in 18 balls, hammered 28 in 13 balls to get to 150-9 with one ball to spare. Aftab Malik, showing his all-round performance, grabbed 4-33, while another all-rounder Muneeb scalped 3-32.
Elaf Advance, batting against AOT Youngsters, managed 117 as Rehan bamboozled the opposition. Hasnain scored 25 and Omer 39. Rehan grabbed a fabulous haul of 6-11 and Salman 2-16. AOT Youngsters was bowled out for 112. Pervez Baig hit 21. Hasnain accounted for 3-18, Asif 3-19 and Ashraf 2-18.
Arab Lankans racked up 194-3 through Imran 37, Siraj 39 and Mushtaq 34 not out. The hero of the day A.C. Rumaish faced just 17 balls for an unbeaten 51. He blasted 6 fours and 3 sixes. Omer Mukhtar claimed 2-39. Zultrack, in chase, got stranded at 184-6, while Omer Mukhtar slammed 95 in 47 balls with 4 sixes and 11 fours. Rashid made 25. They added 88 runs. Earlier, Usman Gulab stroked 21. Mansoor grabbed 3-43 and A.C. Rumaish took 2-32.
In previous week's matches, Dopco Young Stars defeated Hala Academy Blue by 7 wickets, Limitless downed AOT Youngsters by 38 runs, Master's CC made short work of Marine Services by 7 wickets, Hala International School routed Natcom by 8 wickets and Al-Safri-XI prevailed over Contraco by 20 runs.
