Pervez maintains form in WPCA Afternoon event

JEDDAH – Eight matches were played in the fifth week of the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) Afternoon Tournament which is being sponsored by Hyundai.
Pak Mecca XI posted 146 for 4, thanks to skipper Yasir, who scored a fine 69 in 44 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes against Fuchs Al-Hamrani. Fuchs successfully replied with 147 for 6 in 107 balls. Kashif made 43 and Khoban 40.
Dopco Young Stars, batting first against Hala Academy Blue, posted 150 for 5 in 18 overs through Ali (50 off 33 balls) and Jamshed (unbeaten 37).
Amjad took 2-23. Hala Academy Blue took 103 balls to get to the required 151 for 6. Ramazan hit an unbeaten 45 in 27 balls after the top order failed. Usman made 24 and Shahbaz 23 with 5 fours. Hassan claimed 2-28 and Rashid 2-30.
GGI, using the track first, hit 161 for 6 as skipper Pervaiz continued his good form this season with 55 in 24 balls. Haroon made 33 and Zahid 28. Nestle Milo responded with 164 for 6 in 106 balls through Ejaz 38, Sajjad 28 and Ahmed 24. Zahid got 2-23 and Abid 2-40.
Pak Kashmir was restricted to 106 for 7 by Jotun Paints as Shahzad grabbed 4 wickets for just 13 runs and Zafran took 3-28. Amir made 36 and Hanif 23. Jotun Paints, in reply, was home with 109 for 1 in just 57 balls. Shafeeq hammered an unbeaten 52 in 26 balls with 8 fours and a six while Shabbir made 45.
Desert Lions achieved the winning target of 91 in just 73 balls with 9 wickets in hand against Al-Rayyan. Mushtaq and Omer remained unbeaten on 37 and 27, respectively. Earlier, Al-Rayyan was all out for 86 as Philips scalped 3-8 and Khalid took 2 wickets.
Elaf Advance won against Marine Services after it reached the winning target of 145 for 4 in 104 balls. Majid blasted a 43-ball 70 with 8 fours and a six while Siddique hit 28 and Usman 21. Aqeel took 2-4.
Masco, batting first against Al-Safree, racked up 157 for 9. Javaid made 32 and Tauseef 23. Aftab took 2-21 and Manjeet Kumar 2-24. Al-Safree responded with 144 all out to loose by 13 runs. Manjeet Kumar top scored with 41 and Muneeb contributed 27. Junaid accounted for 2-9 and Tauseef 2-29.
Contraco posted 157 for 7 against AMI Juffali, thanks to Khurram, who made 60 with 7 fours and 3 sixes and Irfan 33. Zafar took 3-25 and Shaboor 2-33. AMI Juffali reached the victory target of 158 in 106 balls with one wicket to spare. Shaboor made 43, Nadeem 37 and Asif 26. Irfan, Infan Jr and Amjad took 2 wickets each.
