Irfan blasts century in Hyundai Naghi Premier

JEDDAH — Irfan blasted a fabulous century to steer Saudi-XI to victory against AOT, My Care Hala thrashed Dopco Stars and Crown Steel prevailed over IDB in the Hyundai Naghi Premier Tournament, which is sponsored by Hyundai Naghi Motors, at the WPCA grounds here recently.
AOT, opting to bat first, posted 146-9 through Faisal (28), Qaiser Lateef (22) and Abbas Gulam (28). Nadeem Saad took 3-34, Adil 2-26, while one wicket each went to Anwer and Amjad. Al-Saudi-XI chased the target successfully with Irfan in fine touch. He faced 56 balls to compile an unbeaten 103 with 15 fours and 2 sixes. Irfan added 43 runs with Javed Iqbal to get to the victory target of 147-3 in 94 balls. Zeeshan scalped 2 -31 and Faisal 1-23.
Crown Steel won the toss to bat first against IDB and racked up 209-5 as skipper Shafeeq hammered 78 in 40 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Murtuza stroked 55 in 31 balls with 8 fours. They added 134 for the first wicket, followed by Abid Naseem (49 in 22 balls). Babar took 2-35, Yasir 1-27, Waseem 1-35 and Farooq 1-42. IDB, in reply, could get to only 161-7 and lose the encounter by 48 runs.
Ijaz top-scored with 58 in 33 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes, Khalid Butt scored 40, while Iqbal made 23. Ijaz Sagheer Mitha took 3-24, Waqas 2-35, while Imran and Qaiser got one wicket each.
In the last match, My Care Hala, electing to bat against Dopco Stars, plundered 242-4 with Moazzam Shoukat hammering 71 in 44 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes, while his partner Qamar Abbas faced 23 balls to compile 47. They stitched together 105 in 50 balls. Later, one down Kashif Shafeeq scored 45, while Amir Sajjad remained unbeaten on 33 to get to a mammoth 242. Shoaib Ali took 2-36. Afaque and Asim claimed one wicket each. Dopco Stars, in reply, was restricted to 196. Nadeem scored 54 in 32 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes, while none of the top order could contribute substantially. Shoaib Ali, coming at 83-5, tried his best with an unbeaten 69 in 28 balls with 7 sixes and 3 fours. He did not get any support from the other end except for Asim who made 31 not out. Faheem took 3-20, Hussain Bhatti 3-45 and Amjad one.
