RIYADH — Spokesman of the General Directorate for the Border Guards, Brig. Mohammad Al-Ghamdi said that cases of drug smuggling and infiltrations have not declined in Ramadan. The Border Guards have arrested nine drug smugglers who were in possession of 145 kg of hashish. The arrests came within the past few days following an exchange of fire. He said that the Border Guards last month had thwarted the smuggling of 2,585 kg of hashish, 183,456 drugs pills and 208,657 kg of qat. In addition, attempts to smuggle 194 weapons and 97,236 rounds of ammunition were foiled during the same period. The Border Guards also arrested 77,518 infiltrators, and 478 human traffickers.
