Abdulrahman Al-Ali Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The Civil Defense is investigating a huge fire that struck workshops in south Jeddah's Eskan Street. The fire erupted early Tuesday morning and covered an area of 10,000 square meters. The Civil Defense mobilized 10 firefighting units, in addition to rescue teams, equipment and water tankers. Spokesman for Makkah Province Civil Defense Col. Saeed Sarhan said the workshops that contained large amounts of wood, furniture, and flammable materials were built with cement blocks and steel sheets. igh winds and the contents of the workshops fed the fire. Special foam was used to contain the fire and stop it from spreading further. Two nearby warehouses containing large amounts of wood were emptied as a precaution and police diverted traffic from the area. No injuries were reported from the fire.
