RIYADH — The Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO), Saudi Arabia's state grain buyer, has completed procedures for importing 1.08 million tons of feed barley, representing the fourth tender for 2020, from the European Union, Australia, the Black Sea, North and South America except Canada. Governor of the SAGO Eng. Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Fares stated on Monday that the amount specified in the tender will be imported in 18 shipments; 13 shipments with the amount of 780,000 tons for the Kingdom's ports on the Red Sea, and 5 shipments with the amount of 300,000 tons for the Kingdom's ports on the Arabian Gulf, to be supplied during the period of August-September 2020. The governor also said that this tender comes as part of the government's efforts to meet the local demand and maintain the strategic reserve of imported barley, adding that the organization has contracted to import 3.8 million tons since the beginning of this year.
