Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) has completed procedures for importing 1,080,000 tons of barley, representing the fourth tender for 2020, from the European Union, Australia, the Black Sea, North and South America; except Canada. Governor of SAGO Eng. Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Fares stated today that the amount specified in the tender is distributed to 18 shipments; 13 shipments with the amount of 780,000 tons for the Kingdom's ports on the Red Sea, and 5 shipments with the amount of 300,000 tons for the Kingdom's ports on the Arabian Gulf, to be supplied during the period of August-September 2020. The Governor also said that this tender comes as an extension to the efforts of meeting the local demand and maintaining the strategic reserve of imported barley, adding that the organization has contracted to import 3.8 million tons since the beginning of this year.
