When Cambridge International recently announced the Outstanding Learners' Awards for academic achievements in the June 2016 Cambridge Examination series, learners of Pakistan International School-English Section Jeddah shined with remarkable positions in all categories. The school held the leading position in the Western Province as three PISJ-ES students secured "Top in World" rankings in different subjects and altogether 11 positions in various categories. To acknowledge the meritorious success of students and unresolved efforts of teachers, an award ceremony was organized on Dec. 1, in the school auditorium. Consul General of Pakistan Shahryar Akbar Khan graced the occasion as the guest of honor. Congratulating the stars of PISJ-ES on their incredible achievements, he said, "Whereas being in the spotlight on achieving excellent grades is awe-inspiring and matter of great honor and pride, students should also take into account virtues like honesty, compassion, respect and tolerance which are essential to become responsible citizens in society." Khan emphasized that the real success is to become a true Muslim and being respectful toward teachers and parents. He added that with these qualities, the students who could not acquire A*, A or B are still successful and are likely to achieve more in the long run. On this occasion, Principal Adnan Nasir congratulated the award winning students, their teachers and parents. He said, "The school's outstanding result is manifestation of our students' hard work, focused approach and teachers' commitment, dedication, devotion and sincerity toward the cause of education." Nasir elaborated, "PISJ-ES, as the ‘Pride of Nation', reflects the strong image of Pakistan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The school's tremendous success is a matter of great pride and honor for the community and our country, Pakistan." The award winners in the "Top in World" category were Wafa Asher with As Accounting, Shaheer Ahmed in IGCSE English as Second Language and Haroon Ali Khan in IGCSE Mathematics. Among the "Top in Country" category were Haider Ali Chaudhry who secured this award in AICT, Wafa Asher in Economics and Fatima Maryam in IGCSE Pakistan Studies. Al-e-Iba Dahri from A-Level secured two positions and Ahmed Salman acquired one in "Top in Western Province Learners Award" category in Business Studies and Economics respectively. In the "Best Across 3, A & As Levels Category", Aroob Saifullah and "Best Across 8 IGCSE", Saifullah Khan achieved third place. "With 11 Cambridge Outstanding Learners Award, PISJ-ES not only leads in academic excellence in the region but has marked a glorious record to establish and direct its students' aspirations toward the progress of our country, Pakistan," the principal said. Toward the end, the students received awards from Consul General Khan. The teachers' hard work was exquisitely acknowledged by presenting them bouquet of flowers.
