Seven students from the Pakistan International School Jeddah - English Section (PISJ-ES) have won Cambridge awards and have been declared top achievers due to their exceptional performance in the University of Cambridge board examinations in May-June 2011. The students and their awards are: Wafa Muzaffar (IGCSE), Top in Saudi Arabia in Economics; Hiba Shakil (IGCSE), Top in Saudi Arabia in First Language English; Mohammed Ali Imran (IGCSE), Top in Saudi Arabia in Pakistan Studies; Sara Altaf (IGCSE), Top in Jeddah in Biology; Sara Altaf (IGCSE), Top in Jeddah in Chemistry; Sara Altaf (IGCSE), Top in Jeddah in Physics; and Aisha Tariq (A-Levels), Third place — Best across Cambridge 3 A levels. They have qualified for the University of Cambridge International Examination (CIE) awards. The University of Cambridge International Examinations is “the world's largest provider of international education programs and qualifications for 5–19 year olds,” according to their website. Their qualifications are taken in over 160 countries and recognized by universities, education providers and employers across the world, the site says. The University of Cambridge announced the Cambridge Outstanding Achiever Awards via email on Feb. 12 and the students will receive their awards in a ceremony organized by the British Council and Cambridge University on Feb. 26. PISJ-ES Principal Sehar Kamran said that the school is proud of its students and faculty members who have turned the vision of achieving unparalleled heights to reality. “We feel immense pleasure and dignified pride to inform that once again PISJ-ES is leading in the region with seven Cambridge awards. Our students have set up a glorious record of outstanding results,” she said. Kamran congratulated the awardees, their parents and school staff. She said that the results are a manifestation of the sincerity of purpose, devotion to education and total commitment of the faculty members, students and parents of PISJ-ES. She added that PISJ stands as a strong icon of Pakistan in Saudi Arabia and the school results are a source of pride for the country and the Pakistani community in the Kingdom. __
