JEDDAH — With only six weeks remaining in qualifying to top four, Cool Guys and BCT-JBS teams are on a great race for the top post with both blanking their opponents in the 20th week of the FEDBG-FMBL 17th meet at the Bowling City here. Cool Guys sustained league leadership by trouncing Global Intergold in a lopsided match with Lourdes Punzalan being the most productive player with 681 that gained her the Lady Bowler of the Week honor. Punzalan bagged the coveted award with her games of 274, 213 and 194 that were closely challenged by Eloisa Fernandez at 664. Such sparkling performances of Punzalan led to Cool Guys' total wallop of Global in the final tally of 3,712-3,445. Global got the chance to win Game Two when Luz Pagaran and Benjie Cils initiated 236 and 219 rallies but Nezar Alhamwi, Michelle Mata and Salic Mudag, Dylan Ilagan and team captain Jun de Dios concretely backed up Punzalan to foil such an attempt. With all its efforts thwarted Global dropped its intensity and suffered a 22-0 submission making Cool Guys to hold on to the league leadership with computed points of 697. With a similar 22-0 card against Liquidators-3, BCT-JBS Pro Shop stayed close behind Cool Guys, slashing the lead of 23 to 18 as this Emil Paayongayong-captained team garnered its sixth Team of the Week honor on dominating aggregate of 3,873. BCT-JBS silenced Liquidators on sets of 1,293-1,173, 1,275-1,178 and 1,305-1,152. On top of this superlative outing was Romel Agbayani, who clinched his third Bowler of the Week honor, on his excellent totals of 722 from scratch of 650 on outstanding games of 225, 202 and 223. Rommel Cagampang, Fernandez, Payongayong, Edward Botardo and Jimmy Aragones wrecked it more on respective spirited routing of 690, 664, 620, 610 and 567. Melo Dianco, Hanna Reyes and team captain Erwin Palilio tried contending with 639, 622 and 603 but the minimal shares of Jess Pineda, Gina Dianco and co-captain Marcelo Manalo gloomed its cause. On other developments, Lane Axis continued to be on the red line with 669 at third place after blanking Marinquenos, while Four Season and Micah's Pride sustained striking distance by respectively winning against Trojans (20-2) and Pin Slasher (18-4). Nevertheless Pin Slasher upheld the fourth place with 642 behind Lane Axis. Four Season is at fifth spot with 637 and Micah's Pride is at sixth with 626. Meantime, Ekis-8 failed to contain FB Rhinos and suffered a 10-12 setback via taking the scratch sets and relinquishing the handicapped aggregate at 3,713-3,603. Still on their groping stage is the defending champion Sagmit Dental Clinic that got thumped once again by Casadores at 18-4. Current record holders on Team, Men and Ladies Divisions for Hi-series with Handicap, Hi-series scratch, hi-game with handicap and hi-game scratch are: Four Season – 4,061, Ekis-8 – 3,579, Micah's Pride – 1,390 and Sagmit Dental Clinic – 1,276. Danny Bautista – 760, Nap Patayan – 730, Ruel Perez – 300 and RIc Reformado – 290. Luz Pagaran – 720, Matet Cavite – 663, Lourdes Punzalan – 274 and Marie Gumpal 234.
