Cool Guys hold their nerves in FEDBG-FMBL
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 12 - 03 - 2016

JEDDAH — Following the loss in their opening match to their undermanned rivals, Jun de Dios kept his cool to guide Cool Guys to a retaliatory victory and eventual session supremacy as the 600 markers of Dylan Ilagan, Nezar Alhamwi and Randy Mata plus the solid supports of Rene Punzalan, Michelle Mata and de Dios himself made them the Team of the Week on an aggregate of 3,726 at the end of the 11th session of the FEDBG-FMBL 17th meet at the Bowling City here.
Cool Guys' reprisals was triangularly tackled by Ilagan, Al-Hamwi and Mata on their respective totals of 658, 657 and 648 with Ilagan posting highest scratch at 244 and Mata planking 225.
These concrete trio blasts plus the 1,763 combined shares of Punzalan, de Dios and Michelle smudged the first-game win of Casadores (1,253-1,195) as the Cool Guys toppled the last two sets at 1,311-1,084 and 1,220-1,045. This match was finalized at 3,726-3,382 on an 18-4-point separation.
Matet Cavite consoled Casadores by emerging lady Bowler of the Week deadlock with Luz Pagaran of Global Intergold on handicapped series of 720, Cavite sizzled with scratch series of 663 with a new hi-game scratch record of 289. With Cavite in Casadores' game-1 defeat of Cool Guys were Bing Amolo, Sharmaine Patayan and Tommy Kamal.
Global Intergold once again notched one up when it cleanly slated against the no-show Marinduquenos on sets of 1,214, 1,302 and 1,205. Pagaran cropped best for Global with her 720 series collected from 223, 249 and 248. Except for team captain Serge Rivera, who shared average, Benjie Cils, Pinky Acato, Rudy Valenzuela and Robert Bago all exceeded 600 points to complete Global's aggregate of 3,721.
FB Rhinos of Oliver Robles made news by edging top favorite Pin Slahers on final tallies of 3,717-3,705 to be better in win points at 12-10. Such victory inclined to underdogs when FB Rhinos upset Pin Slashers in Game 1 at 1,178-1,176 though the latter won the scratch at 1,053-981. Inspired by their game-1 success, Jun Palacios, Simeon Dellosa and Robles powered Rhinos with 232, 253 and 257, so that albeit Rod Lofamia, Mariz Resano and Benjie Latorilla were just on their averages, they humbled Pin Slashers at 1,336-1,239. Frenzied by the enormous scoring of Fine Boys, Andy Yumena and James Galvan gave their best at 254 and 230 which with the support of Roger Daquioag, May Lourdes, Natty Caringal and TC Dariel Loquias, Pin Slashers saved the last game at 1,290-1,203 with marginal triumph on overall scratch at 3,336-3,126.
In other matches: Lane Axis blanked understaffed Liquidators 22-0, Micah's Pride beat Trojans 18-4, Ekis-8 humbled league-leader Sagmit Dental Clinic 12-8 and Four Season starved BCT-JBS Pro Shop 22-0 despite the prolific defense of the male Bowler of the Week winner, Rommel Cagampang, who tried boosting teammates with 704. Cagampang scratched 680 on lines with 268, 197 and 215.
