Mumtaz Champions Trophy set for finals

RIYADH — Mehran, Mazaya Hyderabadi Boyz, Konkan Green and Run Riderz made it to the finals of their respective divisions in the Inaugural Mumtaz Champions Trophy Cricket Tournament, organized by Riyadh Cricket League (RCL) and sponsored by Mumtaz Cricket Academy of Mumtaz Group at the RCL Complex here.
Highlights of the matches were excellent batting by Mushtaq, Asad Khan, Usman, Rayees, Nawaz, Shaibaz, Khawar and Fazil and fine bowling by Salah, Faiq, Naaz, Asad and Alam.
Super Division
In the first semifinal, Mehran CC beat Evergreen Sixers CC by 33 runs. Mehran CC made 204. Asad was the top run maker with 65. He was supported by Osman (56). Jamal took 2 wickets. In reply, Evergreen Sixers was never in control and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Nawaz, however, held on for 42. Asad and Alam took two wickets each to steer Mehran CC to a 33-run victory.
Man of the Match: Asad Khan.
In the second semifinal, Mazaya Hyderabadi Boys got the better of Shaheen XI by 19 runs in a close encounter.
Mazaya managed only 172, thanks to a steady innings by Fazil (32) and Asghar (31). Mudassir, Rashed and Farooq took one wicket each. In reply, Shaheen was off to a steady start with Khawar and Sikander making 43 and 22, respectively, until Mazaya hit back with quick wickets and won the match by 19 runs. Salah claimed 4 wickets and Fazil 2.
Man of the Match: Fazil.
Premier Division
In the first semifinal, Konkan Green defeated Diamond CC by 5 wickets. Diamond tallied 158. Majid, Feroz and Mazhar scored 32, 30 and 28, respectively. Faiq took 4 wickets and Tausif 2. In reply, Konkan easily qualified for the final with the help of Shaibaz and Tausif, who made 46 and 36, respectively. Ameer took 2 wickets.
Man of the Match: Faiq Rawal.
In the second semifinal, Run Riderz beat Jamiaa by 16 runs.
Run Riderz CC collected 169. Rayees scored 40 and Idris 30. Wajahath contributed 26. Naaz took 4 wickets and Mushtaq 2. In reply, Jamiaa started well as Mushtaq top scored with 83. But the team stumbled after Mushtaq's good work and lost the match by 16 runs. Moin made 34. Wajahat, Asim and Sameer took 2 wickets each.
Man of the Match: Wajahat.
Mohammad Rafeeq, MD of Mumtaz Group of Companies, and distinguished guests from Riyadh cricketing community are expected to attend the finals and the prize distribution ceremony at the RCL Complex.
