Razaur Rahman RIYADH — Mehran CC defeated Pakhtoon Khawa CC in the final to emerge champion of the RCL MoneyGram Cricket ke Badshah T20 Tournament at RCL Complex here recently. The tournament which was played under the guidance of Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC), was organized by Riyadh Cricket League (RCL) and sponsored by MoneyGram. Soon after the final, the prizes were awarded at a function where Nadeem Nadwi, CEO of SCC, was the chief guest along with other SCC official Rahat Ali Chaudry, RCL President Mamoor Elahi and Mohammad Nizami. Jawaid Munawar, SVP of RCL, conducted the ceremony, assisted by RCL committee members Riaz Ahmed, Hanif Baber, Zakaria, Tariq Butt and Rehan Khan. Nadwi thanked the RCL officials for making this tournament a big success. Mehran CC beat Pakhtoon Khawa by 5 wickets. Put in to bat, Pakhtoon Khawa set a target of 159 runs. Yousaf Haroon was out for 6 and Arshad for 2. One down batsman Kifayath and Kashif also failed, getting out for 12 and 16, respectively. Naveed and Khalid batted well and helped Pakhtoon Khawa make a reasonable total. Naveed scored 33 and Khalid 54 with the help of 3 boundaries and 3 sixes. Usman Shah bowled well and claimed a hat trick. Assad Khan and Ibrahim took 2 wickets each, while Raja Ejaz and Imran got 1 each. In reply, Merhan achieved the target in 18.5 overs. Alam Khan played an excellent innings of 78 with 6 boundaries. He was supported by Assad Butt (22) and Raja Ejaz (26). Fakhar made 16. Yousaf Haroon took 3 wickets, while Kifayath and Arshad got 1 each. Alam Khan was declared Man-of-the-Match. RCL President Elahi presented a shield to Nadwi. Nadwi and Elahi presented the winner's trophy to Mehran captain Faheem Abbas Shah and a cash prize of SR5000. The runner-up trophy was presented to Pakhtoon Khawa captain Khalid Khan along with a cash prize of SR3000. Man-of-the-Match Alam Khan was honored with a SR1000 cash prize. Alam Khan, who was adjudged Player of the Tournament, was also presented with a trophy, a complete cricket kit and SR1000 cash prize. Best Batsman Khawar Zafar of Evergreen CC and Best Bowler Mudassar also won a complete kit and SR500 cash prize. Semifinal results: Mehran CC beat Evergreen CC by 29 runs. Mehran 183 (Faheem Shah 83, Assad Khan 51; Fayyaz 4 wickets, Amjad 3). Evergreen 153 (Rezwan 34, Taj Khan 28, Azhar 19, Mudassar 15; Assad Khan and Ibrahim 3 wickets each, Raja Ejaz, Fakhar and Fahim Shah 1 each). Man-of-the-Match: Assad Khan.
