Pakistan Consulate dominated the first Inter-Consulate Cup Cricket Tournament, organized by Islamic Development Bank (IDB) at its cricket ground here. Five Consulate teams — India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and South Africa — along with host IDB are taking in this unique championship organized with the support of the administrative services department and sponsored by GBest. The final is scheduled for Dec. 17. Consuls General of all participating teams, Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC) and IDB officials attended the opening ceremony. Pakistan Consulate underlined its superiority by winning the first two matches against South Africa and Bangladesh, respectively, at grass field at the IDB premises. In the first match, the South African Consulate batted first and put on 84 runs in the stipulated 12 overs. Wasim top scored with 16, blasting a six and a four. He was supported by Sulaiman (12) and Ayub (14). For Pakistan, Rizwan and Mohammad took one wicket each. In reply, Pakistan achieved the target in 10 overs. Omar cracked 19, with three boundaries. The other main scorers were Zahid (10) and Imran (12). For South Africa, Zubair took two wickets, while Javed and Shahzad claimed one wicket each. In the second match, Bangladesh Consulate won the toss and decided to bat. It tallied 111 as Jean hit a quick 24 runs with 3 sixes. Tariq maintained the tempo contributing 21 with two sixes. Hanif scored 17. Khan picked up two wickets and Imran one. In reply, Pakistan Consulate won the match by 7 wickets. Osman scored 31 with three boundaries supported by Imran (30) and Maqsood (10).
