ACC tastes win in ALJ Cup

JEDDAH: ACC cricket team tasted victory against Bupa cricket team by 5 runs, Deccan Knights lost to Pak Young by 3 wickets, BTC beat ALJ by 61 runs and Young Athletes won over Al-Khulais by 4 wickets in the fourth week matches of the Division-II Chasmpionship which is sponsored by the Abdul Lateef Jamil Company (ALJ) and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA).
ACC, batting first, made 196-7 in the allotted 18 overs against Bupa cricketers. Abid was the highest scorer with 65. He hit 8 fours and 3 sixes. Others who contributed runs were Sohail 39, Jaya 23, Zaheer 17 and Nazir 17. Imran claimed 3 wickets while Irfan, Makdi, Ayub and Faisal took one each.
In reply Bupa was all out for 192, just short of 5 runs for victory. Junaid (54) was the highest run getter while Imran 36, Deshmukh 31, Ayub 18 and Taufiq 13 tried their best. Abid who batted well for ACC took 3-34, while Ayub, Hassan, Nazir and Nana claimed one wicket each. A revamped Deccan Knights slumped to 134 all out in 16.3 overs against Pak Young. Syed Meer with a patient knock of 21 was the highest scorer. Anwar Shah contributed 20, Inayathullah 18 and Mubashir 11. Aijaz and Akmal took two wickets each while Adnan, Adeel and Babar claimed one wicket each. In reply, the Pak Young boys reached 135-7 in 17.4 overs through Akmal 44, Zubair 32 and Babar 29. Inayathullah took 4-19 in his quota of 4 overs while Sohail and Ayaz got one wicket each.
Batting first, BTC scored 203-8 in the 18 allotted overs against ALJ. In-form Shafi hit 96 with 11 boundaries and five sixes. Rafique 24, Obaidur Rehman 20, Anwar Malik 19 and Azhar 8 also added runs for BTC. Madhu claimed 3-33, Ghazanfar 2-18, Shiraz 1-51 and Mudassir 1-25.
In reply, ALJ was all out for 143. Hamza made 31, Madhu 25, Rizwan 19, Mudassir 17, Shiraz 11 and Adil 10. Azhar and Anwar took two wickets each while Shafiq, Obaid, Asim abd Abdul Rehman grabbed one wicket each.
Al-Khulais, batting first, slumped to 123 all out against Young Athletes. Khaleel 17, Hafiz Ismail 16, Toufeeq 14, Tanveer 11 and Saud 11 were the main scorers. Ismail grabbed 4-11, Zakir two wickets and Safdar one.
In reply, Young Athletes reached 127-6 in 18 overs. Zakir made the highest (28 not out). Others who contributed runs were, Abdullah 27, Khalil 24, Abdul Wahid 15, Shaad Mohammad Khan 8 and Iftekhar 8. Hanif, Irfan and Asif claimed two wickets each.
