The National Center for Assessment in Higher Education (Qiyas) has started taking applications for the General Aptitude Test and the Standardized Test of English Proficiency (STEP); the deadline to register is Sept. 29. Students can go to www.qiyas.org to see if there are available seats. The STEP will be held on Oct. 18 in Riyadh, Makkah, Jeddah, Taif, Dammam, Abha, Al-Qassim and Tabuk, said Ibrahim Muhammad Al-Rasheed, the center's Director of Public Relations and Media Department. The test should be taken by those who want to enroll in postgraduate programs, high school students who want to apply to undergraduate programs and those who want to apply to the Saudi Electricity Company and the Social Insurance Organization, Al-Rasheed said. The General Assessment Test will be held on Oct. 19 in Riyadh, Makkah, Jeddah, Taif, Dammam, Abha, Al-Qassim and Tabuk, he added. That test should be taken by those who want to pursue postgraduate studies at Imam Muhammad Bin Saud University, King Saud University, King Abdul Aziz University and King Fahd Security College and applicants for positions in the Ministry of Defense, Al-Rasheed said.
