King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals commenced on Sunday its “Scientists of Tomorrow” program to attract grade “excellent” pupils from schools across the Kingdom. The two-day program organizes meetings with pupils and parents to familiarize them with the university, its academic courses and accomplishments, and on Sunday a group of hopefuls and their parents were shown a documentary at the university's Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz International Center for Culture and Sciences and later met the university president Khaled Al-Sultan. “The University of Petroleum and Minerals managed to attract approximately 40 percent of last year's grade excellent students in the Kingdom,” Al-Sultan said. The program, which will move on from Dammam to target pupils in Riyadh, Jeddah, Madina, Abha and Qassim, results in aptitude tests via which university entrants are selected. Only “excellent” grade pupils are permitted to sit the tests.
