A 5.9-magnitude quake shook the waters southwest of Aceh Jaya Regency, Nangroe Aceh Darussalam, this morning, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said. BMKG said the epicenter of the tremor which shook at 5.28 am local time lies in a depth of 22 kilometers under the sea 313 kilometers southwest of Aceh Jaya regency. The quake lies 3.22 degrees northern latitude and 93.32 degrees eastern longitude, without any sign of an impending tsunami. In the small hours today an earlier quake struck Simeuleu also in Nangroe Aceh Darussalam but with a lower magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale, ANTARA reported.
