The Standing Committee of Arab States to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has recommended the need for the provision of support for the Regional Center for Drought Monitoring and Early Warning, an affiliate of the General Presidency of Meteorology and Environment Protection of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to become a regional independent body administratively and financially to serve all the Arab countries. The participants also issued a number of recommendations, including the need to raise the level of joint Arab cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of meteorology, and the importance of building human capacity through training programs and experience exchanges as well as adoption of new techniques in the Arab meteorological facilities and regional centers related to meteorology and climate research centers and universities.
