Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Monday discussed with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov bilateral ties, situation in Syria as well as the Middle East peace process. Judeh stressed the need to solve the Syrian crisis within the Arab League with a view to preventing any foreign interference. He also reiterated Jordan's rejection of any foreign military intervention in Syria, stressing the importance of preserving Syria's security, safety and unity. The minister also highlighted Jordanian efforts to end the current stalemate in the peace process, emphasizing the importance of Russia's role within the International Quartet to push Middle East peace forward. In a joint press conference following the meeting, Judeh said that the Palestinian issue was a top priority for Jordan despite the current developments in the region. On Syria, he stressed the need stand by the Syrian people, protect them and end bloodshed, noting that meeting of the Arab foreign ministers in Cairo on March 10 will discuss this issue.
