Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and Middle East Peace Quartet Envoy Tony Blair on Tuesday discussed efforts underway to achieve peace in the region following meetings in Amman between Palestinian and Israeli negotiators. Judeh spoke of the need for concerted efforts by the world community to assist Palestinians and Israelis to return to the negotiating table to reach a just and lasting settlement to all final status issues towards setting up an independent Palestinian state on pre-June 1967. Blair said the Quartet fully backed Jordan's role, pledging to press ahead with steps needed to build confidence between the parties.
