AlHijjah 29, 1432, Nov 25, 2011, SPA -- Over a hundred bulldozers and snow-cleaning vehicles were urgently dispatched to clear the roads in central Sakhalin where cars were trapped overnight by heavy snow, as Itar-Tass reported. Several dozen cars were rescued by Friday morning and nobody was hurt, the road department of Sakhalin said. The snow cyclone and storm also blocked the ferry service with the mainland and cut electricity supplies in several settlements. Two dozen emergency repair teams were dispatched to the area. Weathermen said the cyclone is moving to Kamchatka Friday and authorities in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski cancelled elementary school classes.
