A cyclone brought first snowfalls to the Primorsky Territory on Saturday. It has been snowing heavily for hours all over Primorye, mostly intensively in the south. On the costs it is accompanied by a strong wind with gusts of over 15 meters a second, Itar-Tass reported. According to the meteorological forecast, it will continue snowing for 24 hours more. Wet snow will stick to tree branches and electro-transmission lines. It may cause damage. Meteorologists warn that the temperature is expected to fall 10-15 degrees and icy conditions on roads will impede transport traffic. The administrations of cities and districts warned about the worsening weather placed appropriate services on alert. Operational headquarters are set up in Vladivostok to deal with cyclone consequences. The operational group has worked out plans of actions to clear roads of snow and ice and drawn up schedules for work of snow-removing machines. The headquarters will also control the work of organizations that must clear areas around their offices. The Vladivostok administration asks residents not to use private transport during the weekend. On Sunday when the cyclone will move to the Sea of Japan, a cold Siberian front will intrude into Primorye. The frost will remain for two-three days, but warm and clear weather is expected to set in by November 4. According to reports from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the cyclone that came from the Sea of Okhotsk to Kamchatka coasts brought heavy rains, snow and strong winds. The windstorm hit the south of the peninsula most severely. Gusts of wind of up to 30 meters a second and a storm in the sea were reported there overnight. It snowed in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky for the first time this season. Road services warn about icy conditions. The cyclone is moving to the north of the peninsula, but its influence will be felt for at least 24 hours more. Winds of 15-20 and even 30 meters a second with precipitation may hit the southwest and southeast coasts. --SPA
