AlHijjah 27, 1432, Nov 23, 2011, SPA - Kenneth strengthened to a major category-4 hurricane off the Pacific coast of Mexico on Tuesday but posed no immediate threat to land, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center (NHC) said. Kenneth, the tenth named storm of the current Pacific season, had maximum sustained winds near 230 kilometers per hour (kph), the NHC said. At 1500 GMT, the storm was centered about 1,200 kilometers south-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, but was moving west and away from the coast at 20 kph. Kenneth was expected to continue its westward path throughout Tuesday before turning west-northwest and starting to weaken on Wednesday, the NHC said.
